Attendance and Promptness


  1. Class Hours (5 day program for all grades):
    Grades K to 3 - 8:50 A.M. to 3:00 P.M.
    Grades 4 - 8 - 8:40 A.M. to 3:00 P.M.
    Noon Dismissal Day - 8:40 A.M. to 12 noon

  2. Students are expected to respond in silence and order to all bells in the yard and Cafeteria. Bells announcing the beginning of the school day will be rung for Grades K to 6 at 8:50 A.M.. Grades 4 & 5 enter the building at 8:40 A.M., Grades 6 thru 8 enter the building at 8:30 A.M.

  3. Parents will see that students arrive in school on time, ATTIRED IN FULL SCHOOL UNIFORM, and completely prepared with proper books, needed supplies, and all assignments. The teacher will contact the parent of any child who is repeatedly late for school or out of uniform.

  4. In inclement weather, Grades K and 3 will assemble before the morning bell in the cafeteria; Grades 4 and 5 in the Gym. Grades 6, 7 and 8 outside their classrooms.

  5. Students are NOT permitted to leave the school premises once they arrive. In an extreme situation when the child must leave the school during the day, a note must be sent in advance by the parent/guardian to that effect. Children leaving under such circumstances must be picked up and signed out from the Main Office.

  6. Whenever possible medical and dental appointments should NOT be made to conflict with the school day. If this is unavoidable a note should be sent to the teacher in the morning and the child picked up and signed out from the Main Office.

  7. A note of explanation must be sent by the parent/guardian to the school on the day following the child’s absence or lateness. If a child is absent for three or more consecutive days, a physician’s note is required.

  8. In the interest of the child’s safety, parents/guardians are required to telephone the school if the child is to be absent for even one day. Please call the school nurse at 223-4404 ext. 14 by 9:30 A.M.

  9. If a student is to be absent for a single day, it is not required to request the homework assignment for that day.

  10. Parents/guardians should not request the office to deliver personal messages to students during the school day. Please make transportation arrangements prior to the beginning of the school day.
