Safety Committee Rules and Regulations
When the children assemble outside the building before school, the following rules must be adhered to by the parents/guardians:
- There will be no parking on the school side of Pershing Blvd. from 8:00 AM to 9:00 AM or from 2:30 - 3:30 while school is in session. If you are dropping off children, we ask that you utilize the Merrick Road parking lot. There is plenty of parking and there is a crossing guard to assist the children as they cross Merrick Road. The Merrick Road parking lot is also to be used at 3:00 PM when picking up children.
- There is no dropping off or picking up of children in the school parking lot at any time. The only traffic permitted in the school parking lot will be faculty members and school buses. During the course of the day, the school parking lot serves as an outside recess area (weather permitting), as well as an alternate gym area. It is important that the yard be kept clear of cars (with the exception of the faculty parking area) during school hours. The Pershing Blvd. entrance will be closed during the day. We ask that everyojne utilize the Merrick Road parking lot during school hours.
- There is no parking permitted on the Pershing Blvd. blacktop during the school day. Our children assemble on the blacktop before school and our "walkers" use the blacktop as the route to Merrick Road dismissal area.
- Children may be dropped off or picked up on Merrick Road. Please instruct your children that they are not to cross Merrick Road in the middle of hte street, but only at the crosswalk with the assistance of the crossing guard.
- Parents are to meet their children at the corner of Merrick Road and Pershing Blvd. only.
- In inclement weather, children may be dropped off on the school side of Pershing Blvd by the doors closest to the school yard. Please follow the directions of our Safety Patrol.
Our Safety Comittee is present to ensure that our children are protected and adhere to the guidelines. Any student who does not follow these rules will be referred to the administration.
