  1. Children should be instructed by their parents/guardians to cross only with the green (walk) traffic light and to obey all the directions of the police or school crossing guard.

  2. Parents/guardians of children who walk to school should determine the route the child will take and instruct them in appropriate safety measures.

  3. Children who use the bus must present the bus pass to patrol persons before boarding the bus. A child who consistently fails to do so will be sent to the Principal’s Office and the parent/guardian will be called to pick the child up.

  4. Bus students may ride only on their assigned bus.

  5. District requirements for bus transportation is one mile for students in Grades K-6 and 1.5 miles for Grades 7 & 8 in Baldwin.

  7. Parents/guardians are encouraged to keep their district office informed of any difficulties with transportation.

  8. Conduct on the bus is expected to be mannerly, courteous, and cooperative. Students must remain seated at all times and use their seat belts. No one is permitted to put their hands or head out the bus window at anytime. Boisterousness, loud talking, screaming, or fighting may result in bus suspension by the bus company. Parents/guardians will be responsible for transportation during periods of suspension.

  9. Walkers may not use the school buses at any time.

  10. For the children’s safety, parents/guardians are requested not to remove walkers from their line until they reach Merrick Road.

  11. No cars will be allowed to double park on Pershing Blvd. at any time.

    All students who use school buses will be asked to sign a Bus Code of Conduct pledge.
